Migraine is another type of severest headache that causes a severe, throbbing pain, often on one side of the head.  Some who have migraine may experience called an aura before they feel pain.  The most common auras involve visual disturbances, such as shimmering lights or blind spots. Those who are suffering often may have nausea, vomiting or extreme sensitivity to light or noises. It is also called sick headache because the pain may be accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
Increased stretching, swelling and throbbing of the arteries and veins lining the brain and outside the skull, may cause migraine.
Migraine recurs from time to time and is often so painful that the affected person must stay in bed.  Some people suffer migraines as often as two or three times a week.  Before the pain begins, they may see flashing lights or have a blind spot in their field of vision.  The pain usually strikes on one side of the head with nausea and vomiting.  Some victims also shed tears, experience blurred vision or have numbness in arm or leg.
It may be due to foods or activities that can trigger migraines in people who tend to get these headaches.   Moreover, it may further aggravate by seeing bright lights or neglecting to eat. Some patients can cut the frequency of their migraines by identifying their particular triggers and avoiding those foods and experiences.
Causes of migraine headaches focused on brain’s blood flow and changes in the size of its arteries, the disorder involves serotonin, an important chemical messenger in the brain.
Sometime, calcium-channel blocker is any of a group of drugs used to treat various disorders of the heart and blood vessels.  Calcium-channel blockers increase blood flow to the heart and reduce blood pressure.  They play an important role in the treatment of some cases of angina pectorals – chest pains caused by inadequate oxygen supply to the heart.
May follow to avoid the migraine;
~ Using a cold compress to the area of pain.
~ Resting with pillows comfortably supporting the head or neck.
~ Resting in a room with little or no sensory stimulations like light, sound and odor.
~ Withdrawing from stressful surroundings.
~ Sleep is the best medicine if it is possible.
~ Avoid caffeine as well as certain foods especially those high in tyramine such as sharp cheeses or containing sulphites (wines) or nitrates (nuts, pressed meats), chocolate and various strong cheeses as such foods may trigger migraine.
Migraine sufferers are also at higher risk of stroke and were more likely to have other problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol that increase the likelihood of heart disease.
The heart-attack risk was higher for those whose migraine is accompanied by aura, which is when symptoms such as flashing lights, zigzags or blind spots appear in vision, stiffness in the neck or shoulders, co-ordination and speech problems occur before the headache.  However, it is wise for migraine sufferers – just as it is for all us – to avoid smoking, eat a healthy diet and be physically active as this helps to protect our hearts.
Onnuri SuJok ACUPUNCTURE, energy concept – Migraine is unilateral with the symptoms like throbbing pain often starts on walking, myasthenia gravies where there is a formation of circulating antibodies to acetylcholine receptors.
