When I had undergone surgery and radiation for carcinoma gingiva/hard palate (head and neck cancer), I was advised to undergo acupuncture as a complementary therapy and hence I had approached Dr. Kapur for this. Throughout the radiation and after, I had undergone acupuncture regularly, which had alleviated the radiation induced dryness of the mouth (xerostomia) and the fatigue and other ailments associated with the radiation.

I had taken radiation from a reputed Delhi Hospital and most of the people who come for radiation around my age (63) were in bad shape after 3rd week of the radiation, but I was not having much fatigue or problems. One of the technicians had asked me as to why I had not been affected by the radiation, I told him that I was taking acupuncture every-day and he was surprised.
I was told that people who undergo chemotherapy can also be immensely benefitted from acupuncture which may reduce nausea, vomiting and other disabling side effects of the high-dose chemotherapy.
From my own experience, I have no hesitation in recommending all those who undergo radiation/chemotherapy to go simultaneously for acupuncture as a complementary therapy.
